What this site is

Not an AI App covers what the major AI companies and open-source projects actually ship, and what it means if you want to use it. It is published from the Netherlands and written in English for readers anywhere. There is no company behind it, no investor and no partnership with the companies we write about.

How a story is made

• One reader question per story. Every article starts from a question a reader might type, not from a press release.
• Original sources first. Repositories, licences, release notes, price lists and official announcements, read on the day the story is written. Secondary coverage is used for context and is checked against the primary source.
• We try things ourselves when we can. Installs, settings and costs are measured on our own hardware. When we could not test something, the article says so.
• Three kinds of statements, kept apart. What we verified, what the maker claims, and what we conclude.
• Every story links its sources and carries a "How we checked" section.

How we use AI tools

We use AI assistants for research support, drafting and illustration, and we say so. Illustrations made with AI carry the label "AI-generated illustration" in their description. Screenshots are real and unedited apart from resizing. Facts, numbers and conclusions are checked by a person before publication, and the person named in the byline is responsible for the story.

Corrections and independence

Mistakes are corrected in the article itself with a note. Advertising and affiliate links are labelled, and they never decide what we cover or how we judge it. The full rules are in our editorial standards.
