The X Subscription: Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor in one plan
Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium are now one subscription from $8 to $200. What each plan includes, what changes for Cursor users, and what Europe gets.
Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium are now one subscription. xAI, the company behind Grok, now calls itself SpaceXSI. On 12 October 2026 it launched "The X Subscription", with five plans from free to $200 a month. For $30 you get what used to cost $90: Grok, the Grok Bot helper, Cursor's coding tools and X Premium+. But Claude and other outside models in Cursor now cost extra. And in the Netherlands, the new plans were not on offer yet on 13 October.
What is The X Subscription?
It is one subscription for four products, xAI announced:
- Grok: the chat app, with voice, images and video.
- Grok Bot: AI helpers that work on their own computer in the cloud. We explained them in our Grok article.
- Cursor: the code editor with AI agents. SpaceX bought Cursor in August.
- X Premium: the paid version of X, with a checkmark and fewer ads.
Grok and Cursor share one pool of AI use. It refills every week, "so one heavy day never wipes out your whole month", the pricing page says. You can spend all of it in Grok, all of it in Cursor, or mix.
The old plans like SuperGrok and Cursor Pro are no longer sold to new customers. Cursor's own price page now shows the same X Subscription plans.
What does each plan cost?
These are the plans on 13 October 2026, in US dollars before tax:
| Plan | Price a month | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Some Grok, a starter amount of Cursor, and standard X |
| Plus | $8 | More Grok and Cursor use, a checkmark and fewer ads on X |
| Premium | $30 | Grok Bot, the newest Grok models, Cursor's cloud agents and code reviews: "the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+" |
| Super | $100 | Everything in Premium, with 15 times the Plus use |
| Ultra | $200 | Everything, with 50 times the Plus use |
According to xAI, SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ together cost $90 a month before. Premium gives you the same for $30.
Teams pay the same per person: $30, $100 or $200.
What changes for Cursor users
This is the part that matters most if you code. On Plus, Cursor only lets you use Grok models, Cursor's price page says. From Premium you can also pick Claude, GPT and other models, but they are not part of the shared pool. You pay for them separately, at the price their makers charge for their API, the paid connection for programs.
What does that cost? In our Cursor test, one small coding job with Claude Sonnet 5.5 in Cursor was worth about 11 cents at those prices. It passed all 186 of our secret checks. Ten such jobs a day would add up to about $24 a month on top of your plan, for a month of 22 workdays.
If you already have a Cursor plan, nothing changes yet: you keep your plan and its included use of other models until you switch.
What is new in Grok Bot
Grok Bot also got a big update on 11 October, version 0.70.2. The main changes:
- A Bot can get its own email address and receive mail there. Mail it sends waits for your approval first.
- Bots can pay for things with X Money or Stripe Link.
- Before anything it can't undo, like sending, posting, buying or deleting, a Bot asks for your approval.
- Bots can search X without you linking your X account.
- Apps like Figma, Notion and Canva can show up as cards in the chat, and you can now connect QuickBooks and Glean.
- When a model isn't available in your region, the Bot explains why and switches to Grok.
On The X Subscription, Grok Bot comes with Premium and higher. It runs in the United States, xAI's documents say, as we explained in our Grok article.
Can you get it in Europe?
Not everywhere yet. xAI says it will make the plans "available to everyone globally" over the next few days. Its terms already have a section for people living in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Tax like VAT may be added when you pay.
But on 13 October, the owner of this site looked in the Netherlands. Grok offered only two plans: €30 and €300 a month. There was no Super plan for $100. Cursor still showed its own separate plans, and the owner took a Cursor plan of €60 a month.
So if you live in Europe and don't see the new plans yet, that is normal for now. Check your billing settings again in a few days.
Should you switch?
If you pay for SuperGrok and Cursor Pro today, Premium gives you both for $30, once it is offered to you. That is the clearest win.
If you only chat with Grok, Plus at $8 may be enough. If you want Grok Bot, you need Premium. And if you code with Claude in Cursor every day, count the extra API cost on top: the pool only covers Grok models.
You don't have to do anything. xAI says nothing changes for current subscribers for now, and it will give notice before it moves anyone to the new plans. If you are comparing AI plans more broadly, see our Claude Pro vs Max test.
Questions people ask
Is Cursor AI free to use?
Yes, with limits. The Free plan of The X Subscription includes a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents. In our own Cursor test, the free plan only let us use Cursor's Auto mode, not models like Claude Sonnet 5.5.
Is Cursor expensive?
It depends on the models you want. On The X Subscription, Plus costs $8 a month but only offers Grok models in Cursor. From Premium at $30, you can also use Claude and other models, but those cost extra at API prices. One small coding job with Sonnet 5.5 was worth about 11 cents in our test.
How much is SuperGrok per month?
In the Netherlands on 13 October 2026, Grok offered the site owner two plans: €30 and €300 a month. In the US, new customers now get The X Subscription instead, where Premium at $30 includes the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+.
Can I use Grok Bot for free?
No. On The X Subscription, Grok Bot starts with the Premium plan at $30 a month. People who already pay for SuperGrok or Cursor keep the Grok Bot access their current plan gives them.
Is Grok Bot on mobile?
Yes. Grok Bot has a desktop app and a phone app, and xAI's changelog of 11 October says pinned Bots now stay in sync between the desktop and the phone.
How we checked
On 13 October 2026 we read xAI's announcement, its pricing page, the X Subscription terms and the Grok Bot changelog, and Cursor's price page. The screenshot is our own, logged out and cropped. The cost per Cursor job comes from our own Cursor test of 10 October 2026, worked out at the list prices of the models.
What we wrote about the Netherlands is what the site owner saw in their own Grok and Cursor accounts on 13 October. We did not buy or switch any plan for this article. Plans and prices change often, so check xAI's page before you choose.
